My paintings reflect how I am very much connected to my surroundings. In Fort McMurray, I am surrounded by The Great Boreal Forest. It is a mystical place covered by the immense northern sky. Its mystery is enhanced by the myriad of plant life and creatures that live and thrive here. I want to depict all that flora and fauna within the unique golden light shimmering through the poplars and tamarack pines. I want my paintings to express the poetic vibration that pervades my northern environment.

I also weave my childhood memories into the weft of each painting. My memories entwine further with the myths, legends and images of distant and local antiquity. Each component is laid down layer upon layer and colour upon colour so that each painting develops its own texture. As each of my paintings evolve, I feel that many could become a sort of archaeological dig.
